- Orangutans spend nearly their entire lives in trees

- Orangutans extremely low reproduction rate makes their populations highly vulnerable - Females give birth to one baby every 3-5 years - Mothers stay with their young for up to 8 years

- Young orangutans are at risk of being sold through pet trade

- Fruit makes up 60% of their diet - as well as insects, leaves and tree bark

- Orangutans are an easy target for hunters because they are large and slow

- Largest toilet paper company in the US, PASEO, make their toilet paper from fibres supplied by Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) - APP has pulped 5 million acres of Sumatran rainforests - More than half of the rainforests have been lost since 1985 - Deforestation is a huge contribution to CO2 emissions - Indonesia is ranked 3rd worst in the world for carbon emissions
