Initial Visual Experimentation...Exaggerating Shapes in Nature
Moving away from the tissue paper experimentation, I wanted to find a different way of developing the details of nature into shapes...ideally with a limited colour palette. I did intend on mixing lighter colours, but without using too much paint I actually resulted in a fairly bright number of colours. I instantly didnt really like them as bright, vibrant colours together arent always my first choice, and these particularly seem really childlike, but I proceeded to use them anyways.
Again I tried different layouts and positions, I also tried collecting the similar colours together, but nothing was really working to produce any ideas or inspiration I liked... Below I attempted replicating flowers from the shapes I'd cut out...but again the style really didnt appeal to me and I could not see myself taking these ideas any further.
Once again I practiced the contrast of using the shapes to create some sort of frame, and then a collection to 'fill' the frame (below, left) - a layout I will most likely take forward but not with the shapes and colours I have developed here...
All in all, the shapes and colours I produced and combined above were only beneficial in making me focus on the things I wont be taking forward...such as abstract shapes and bright colours. In fact it has made me want to work very much in the opposite! Ha ha... All that comes to mind when I look at the experimentation above, are ideas of pink and blue camouflage...shown below...which is certainly an appearance i do not want my gift wrap range to remind people of
