Having started to study both Huels packaging and the common appearance of already existing chocolate bars, i began with some very initial experimentation, simply using the illustrations i had practiced previously. This was great in giving me some understanding regarding layouts and composition, and allowed me to decide early on where i do and dont like the positioning of the logo. This was also good in allowing me to see how some colours worked against a white background - one of two of Huels main branding colours.
Completing this experimentation, questions that were raised included;
How big or small do i want the imagery?
Do i want it to cover the entirety of the bar, or just one side?
Do i want the visuals to overlap with the logo, or sit beside it?
What things are missing from this packaging, to be developed next?
For the experimentation to the bottom left, I wanted to see how a logo with a coloured outline would look upon the packaging, and alongside the images. I didnt actually like the appearance at all, even when matching the colour to the relevant ingredients - i felt it washed out the logo and made it far less prominent than how it is untouched.
I need to keep in mind Huels form of branding - how they use and apply colour, how much of it there is, and how it sits on the packaging. I like the looseness of the fruits in these experiments, but it feels too far from Huels branding for me to continue developing it in this way.
