Where designing a gift wrap collection for an audience, I knew I still wanted to have personal elements incorporated within the design. I am aiming for this collection to represent the times of change and transformation that we need throughout our lives in order to grow. The Coronavirus pandemic has made me and im sure the majority of people in the world realise that life cannot be taken for granted - we need to see the positivity in the things that challenge us so we are able to progress, which is even more significant in the time of spring.

For me, flowers are a beautiful representation of these various elements and attitudes which is an evident reason behind my visual designs, currently. But as well as the imagery I wanted to incorporate text that is relevant and of meaning, whilst somewhat relating to myself as the designer of the range. The Five-Minute Journal

For the most recent christmas holiday I was gifted The Five-Minute Journal. The process entails you committing to yourself to fill out the sections of the journal - as soon as you wake up and just before you go to sleep. The point behind this is to practice positivity and gratitude, encouraging yourself and your brain to think about some of the more important things in your life, at the most important times of your day - this way youre starting and ending your day hopefully thinking and eventually feeling more positive. Journaling was not something I had done before, but after having a year of lockdowns and in general a more negative time, I was more than willing to take it up! I am currently only just 4 months in and am already reaping the personal benefits.

Where as mentioned the key to this journal is to encourage positivity and gratitude, 6 pages for every 7 have an inspiring and intriguing quote at the top. For every quote I read, I take a minute to really understand and process it, to really gage the potential messages. Some quotes stand out to me more than others, and I always put a '*' to really remember the ones I took most notice of. Looking back through these and making notes, a lot of them are relevant to the growth and transformations that I want to be represented across my range.

"Start each day with a grateful heart." - unknown "Surround yourself with people that inspire you and you will not only grow - You will soar." - Mimi Ikonn "When life is sweet, say 'thank you' and celebrate. And when life is bitter, say 'thank you' and grow." - Shauna Niequest "You give life to what you give energy to." - Unknown "Its up to you to see the beauty in everyday things." - Unknown "The good life is built with good relationships." - Robert Waldinger "Happiness is like a kiss. You must share it to enjoy it." - Bernard Meltzer
