My previous attempt at netting for me was an interesting experiment, as I felt it had potential but I had not necessarily executed the process correctly or to its full extent. I decided to take a second practice and attempt at it, taking more care with the twine, the measurements and the overall appearance. I decided that where the main problem from my previous practice was that the net was too sparse and I resulted in a net that wasn't strong enough to hold what I wanted it to, I would take a second attempt - this time ensuring the individual pieces of rope and the knots I make from these are more compact and tightly secured. At this point, I was not yet sure if the net would firmly secure any added elements, but I wanted to try it. See the photos below for the process I took.

As a result, I produced a small-scale installation background, measuring approx. 60W x 90Lcm. As I had hoped, making the gaps a lot smaller by keeping the twine and knots close resulted in s much stronger, sturdy net from which I am able to hang heavier elements from.

In attempting making the background a different colour, i simply painted it white using acrylic paint - initially, I wasnt sure if the brown of the twine was appealing, so wanted to experiment. Where the twine is 100% natural, painting on top of it made the loose ends and threads throughout the twine appear a lot more, which I really didnt like - can be seen below. The white paint has appeared to make the background stand out a lot more, however im not sure if this was an outcome I initially wanted - peer feedback I received complimented the natural appearance of the twine thread and how it provides the raw appearance that nature does. I plan on experimenting further with this but am currently no longer impressed with its previous neat look.
