Having now observed a series of secondary images, as well as having produced some initial 'thought-gathering' drawings, below are some sketches to really start development towards my poster series outcome. At this point I am not currently certain on the details of my posters and how I will lay them out, but evidently I will be incorporating drawings of orangutans, so wanted to get started with the character development.
Where I plan for my poster series to have many features past orangutans, I decided to steer away from developing my drawings to appear extremely detailed and realistic, as this would be an incredibly time consuming process, and not necessarily the overall appearance I want for the outcomes. The Orangutan Foundation are a wonderful cause who work to protect both orangutans, the rainforests and the relationship between them that keeps the vital ecosystem running - I want the appearance of my outcomes to mostly be vibrant and encouraging, with an added dystopian element to represent the warning we all need where recognising the compulsory prevention of the deforestation of the orangutans habitats. I aim for this approach to create a conflict of emotions from viewers, through appreciating and admiring the beauty of the orangutans in their habitats, but whilst also highlighting the results of deforestation, all whilst significantly depicting what it is The Orangutan Foundation do to help and develop the cause.
The digital sketches below present the different ideas where approaching appearances of the orangutans I will include. Beginning to focus on the colour palettes from a previous blog, I began experimenting with tones.

An approach I considered experimenting with was focusing away from the natural colours of the orangutan, in order to produce different and potentially eye-catching outcomes. However the brief experimentation below was enough to assure me there is no need to distract from and even distort what people recognise orangutans as.
