1. With the idea that your work will communicate to a specific audience, what questions are you asking that audience? - Are you familiar with biophilic design? If so, do you like it? - Are you aware of the health benefits biophilic design can have?
- Do you think its important for us to have easy access to nature? If so, why?
- Do you see urbanisation as a problem?
- Do you notice / enjoy the addition of different plants and flowers within a room?
- Do you personally feel a connection to or relationship with nature? Or do you live without giving it much thought or attention? 2. Who is your audience? - Interior designers
- Architects
- Landscape architects
- Urban designers
- Planners
- Health professionals - Employers and developers
- Anyone who wants to understand biophilia and biophilic design better
3. When the work is seen on its own and you are not there to back it up, what do you want people to think about when they look at your work?
- As though they can interact with my work - biophilia is the relationship between humans and nature and i want to ensure this can be recognised and/or felt as part of my work
- Admiration and appreciation, but of the beauty nature brings
- I want the benefits that nature can provide to be recognised and understood - health benefits regarding how we work when surrounded by nature, our productivity, enhanced clarity etc.
- Biophilic design is often the incorporation of large installations, opposed to sparse features, if i focus on size for an outcome, i want people to consider why i may have made work / a piece in this way.
4. How will people benefit from your work?
- I feel as though that if you don't know what biophilia and biophlic design is specifically, then you cant recognise it for what it is and what it does - we all appreciate the freshness and visual pleasure of having plants and flowers in a room, but do people really know the in-depth benefits of expanding this to designing an entire room in this way? People will benefit from my work by hopefully gaining this understanding, if they had not already, and by hopefully being inspired to incorporate biophilic design within their own home and work environments to really experience the physical and mental benefits.
5. In a dream scenario, how would you like to financially benefit from this work?
- If i were to produce a larger installation, a dream financial benefit could be either a designer purchasing it to use within or amongst their work, potentially a healthcare professional, or someone in the industry could make use of either my installation, (or be inspired to produce their own) by placing it within a hospital or similar environment.
- Perhaps a different way I could benefit financially would be by renting or licensing the installation?
6. Select three unfamiliar people or groups from the references database - why have hey made an impact on you?
'Adapt' - 'Is a climate club and creative organisation, using design, humour and contemporary culture to communicate climate issue in a new way' - Main aims are to share knowledge, encourage action and build a community of motivated activists - They produce light hearted visuals - "Shall we clear the air?" - They work with larger organisations (e.g. OceanBottle) to design campaigns for environmental organisation days, such as World Ocean Day 2020. - They stood out / are of an impact to me because illustrations for climate change is the subject of my dissertation and i haven't really seen activist art that is completely humorous in this way.

'Anila Quayyum'
- She lived under Islam and Christian faiths in both Pakistan and the USA - because of this, her work is hugely inspired by the sense of alienation. - Through producing artworks of all sizes and medias from embroidery to huge installations, Anila explores the relationships between gender, culture, religion, labor and social codes. - Experiences in her native country and as an immigrant in the USA are woven into her work - a form of creatuve expression. - Anila's work stood out and is of an impact to me because the emotion within her work is so powerful that it allows her to create really strong and beautiful pieces - the installations where light is used from the inside out are my favourite, they are so clever and beautiful. One installation can cover and transform an entire room.

Sarah Maycock - Is a full-time, self-employed illustrator - she works for an agency who collect her client base and collaborations. - She works digitally but also with a variety of watercolour/acrylic paints, pens, inks etc. - Maycock stood out and is of impact to me because of the way in which she works , particularly her watercolour pieces - they are so detailed and beautiful and full of texture.
