Huel's logo is simple, but effective - either white against black or black against white in the helvetica font. Where designing the packaging for the cocoa bars, I evidently want to add my own details to Huels branding. Im apprehensive as to how i can add to the logo, as its simplicity is what makes it so recognised! Instead of completely changing the shape and size of the logo, i have practiced adding to it and differing its colour. Below is a colour palette from all the colours on different products on Huels website. There are a few neutral tones, green and reds, but aside from this, there isnt much in common with the colour palette!
As mentioned, where Huels branding is recognised for its simplicity, i wanted to experiment with the appearance of pastel colours, as i felt these wouldnt be too harsh or too much of an abrupt change.
The experiments below are the same pastel colours, only inverted. I didnt like the colour palette this produced, they are a bit too dark and dull for my taste.
I wanted to see how the logo would look as only an outline, as i felt this was an appropriate way to keep it simple, just with different backgrounds. I liked experimenting with the brighter colours, but they quickly felt too far away from Huels appearance. For me the black and white was still the most effective contrast, but im not sure if just an outline would make the logo washed out, when next to other text.
Flipping experimentation in the other direction, I have stuck with the original black font, but with coloured outlines. These are my favourite experimentations so far, as theyre effective and different whilst still remaining very similar to the original logo - i feel the colours would look best corresponding with the main colours on my packaging.
Again i do really like the experiments below - for some reason changing the colour of the entire logo works best against the all black background, opposed to the white? Maybe I would have to develop the packaging designs in this direction.
