Having looked at the different ways of creating a green wall and considering potential options, analysing work by the likes of Rebecca Law made me unsure how i could combine the beauty of her work, with the practicality of a green wall... The idea of taking inspiration from and developing her work wasn't always the best method as decaying flowers release toxins, and they wouldnt produce the visual and physical benefits that are such an important part of biophilia as a relationship and biophilic design. Considering attempting to produce a green wall with complex irrigation systems now doesnt seem most practical or cost efficient - a vertical wall does require an irrigation system if i would like it to last more than a few days. A compromise I made with myself resulted in analysing the hanging of plants within their own boxes or containers, to sit within their own soil and would be easy to water moderately. How will I make this beautiful and appealing whilst being practical and efficient? Below are some rough sketches I have made based on potential layouts...materials are yet to be completely confirmed, but the idea of using transparent material seems the most beneficial for the people viewing the plants, and for the plants where gaining as much light as possible. I will be collecting various materials in order to produce a maquette to really represent the ideas Ihave regarding the production of a biophilic design installation, to easily sit within a hospital.
