Notes below highlight ideas and the most important and significant areas I must ensure to focus on and consider throughout my research and project development.

Orangutan Foundation working with local people;

- OF Hold local events to keep raising awareness and promote habitat protection (imagery to show collaborations with local people) - Have marches through Indonesian streets - Work with local schools - *imagery of children supporting* - OF hold local training sessions to help local people monitor orangutan population in oil-palm and logging concessions

- 'Sustainable Livelihood Workshops' - work with local women to practice different farming and weaving techniques

- Where can't visit schools, they bring pupils to the forest

- They plant trees cultivated in nurseries to rebuild areas of destructed rainforests for the future

Habitat protection & reforestation

- Protection of low-lying tropical forests - private orangutan habitats - Is crucial to their survival (also conserves thousands of other species)

- OF protect over 500,000 acres of tropical forest

- In Tansung Puting National Park, The Belantikan Arut Region & the Lamandau Wildlife Reserve - Home to 5000 critically endangered orangutans

- Have manned guard posts and forest patrols

- Deterrence the people entering the park and reserve illegally - Are bases for regular patrols to be carried out - All guard posts have firefighting equipment

- Fire is the biggest destruction and wildlife killer - they release huge amounts of CO2 and are a significant contribution to global greenhouse gases - Why OF Support the training, equipping and deployment of firefighting teams in the areas of the critical habitats

- In Lamandau Wildlife Reserve, OF has a Forest Restoration Programme - Over 75,000 saplings planted in areas previously damaged by fires
